Ovarian torsion

  • Ovaries that enlarge during ​stimulation are at risk of twisting and ​causing insufficient blood supply.
  • Symptoms: Severe, rapid lower ​abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting.
  • It is an emergency condition that ​might requires surgery. Please notify ​your doctor immediately.

Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS)

  • Found in people who have a very ​good response to stimulating drugs ​and get a lot of eggs. It is caused by ​hormones from the ovaries causing ​fluid in the blood vessels to leak into ​the abdominal cavity or lungs.
  • Symptoms: bloating, weight gain of ​more than 1.5 kg, nausea, vomiting, ​difficulty breathing, little urine output.
  • It is an emergency and must be ​closely monitored. If you have these ​symptoms, contact your doctor ​immediately.

There is a very low chance of ​complications (<1%) including:
